The GLC level system aligns with the international standard CEFR and follows the level scheme widely adopted by educational institutions worldwide. This enables you to objectively assess your English proficiency using globally recognized standards. This structured level system ensures a comprehensive and standardized approach to English language education. It allows students to accurately gauge their language skills and progress, providing a clear roadmap for improvement.

CEFR-based proficiency levels

Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is an internationally recognized standard for language learning, teaching, and assessment. Employed by language education institutions globally, it is also utilized in elementary, junior high, and high school educational settings. The CEFR allows for level assessment across 38 languages, extending beyond English. Its application spans beyond educational institutions, serving as a cross-border and cross-lingual reference for language proficiency in professional contexts.

CEFR adopts a total of 6 levels, with A1/A2 levels as the "basic stage", B1/B2 levels as the "intermediate stage", and C1/C2 levels as the "advanced stage". Conventional level assessments tend to be based on grammar, vocabulary, and language accuracy, but CEFR's assessment features are based on what specific things you can do with the language you have learned. In simple terms, CEFR evaluation covers theory and practice. It usually takes around 200 hours of instruction with a qualified teacher to raise your CEFR level.
